He Had Four Sons
Once there lived an old farmer in a certain village. He had four sons. They always quarreled with each other. The father often advised them to mend their ways. But they did not listen to him.
One day, he fell seriously ill. He was on death bed. He called his sons to his bed-side. He wanted to teach them a lesson before his death.He asked them to bring a bundle of sticks. The bundle was brought. He asked them to break the bundle. They tried hardly but no one could break the bundle.
The wise father now untied the bundle. He asked them to break one stick each. Now each of them broke his stick easily. The father said to them, “If you are united, nobody can harm you. If you quarrel, you will suffer.” These words worked magic. They promised to live in peace.
বাংলা অর্থঃ একবার এক গ্রামে এক বৃদ্ধ কৃষক বাস করতেন। তার চার ছেলে ছিল। তারা সবসময় একে অপরের সাথে ঝগড়া করত। বাবা প্রায়ই তাদের পথ সংশোধন করার পরামর্শ দিতেন। কিন্তু তারা তার কথা শোনেনি।
একদিন তিনি গুরুতর অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়েন। তিনি মৃত্যু শয্যায় ছিলেন। তিনি তার ছেলেদের বিছানার পাশে ডাকলেন। তিনি মৃত্যুর আগে তাদের একটি শিক্ষা দিতে চেয়েছিলেন। তিনি তাদের লাঠির বান্ডিল আনতে বলেছিলেন। বান্ডিল আনা হল। তিনি তাদের বান্ডিল ভাঙতে বলেন। তারা আপ্রাণ চেষ্টা করেও কেউ বান্ডিল ভাঙতে পারেনি।
বুদ্ধিমান বাবা এখন বান্ডিলটি খুললেন। তিনি তাদের একটি করে লাঠি ভাঙতে বললেন। এখন তারা প্রত্যেকেই তার লাঠি সহজেই ভেঙে ফেলল। বাবা তাদের বললেন, “তোমরা ঐক্যবদ্ধ থাকলে কেউ তোমাদের ক্ষতি করতে পারবে না। ঝগড়া করলে কষ্ট পাবে।" এই কথাগুলো জাদু কাজ করেছে। তারা শান্তিতে বসবাস করার প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছে।
Two Friend And A Bear
Once there were two friends. They live in a certain village. They were very intimate with each other. One day the two friends were walking through a jungle. They promised that they would help each other even at the time of danger. Suddenly, they saw that a bear was coming towards them.
Both of them were afraid. One of them knew how to climb up a tree. Soon he climbed up a nearby tree without thinking about his friend. But the other friend was fatty and did not know how to climb up a tree.
But he knew that a bear does not eat a dead body. So, he fell down on the ground and stopped breathing. And he was pretending like a dead person.
The bear came near him, smelt his face, ears, and nose and thought him to be a dead man. So, without touching him, it left the place. The other friend who was on the tree saw everything. He got down from the tree, went to his friend, and asked him eagerly, “Oh! Dear, what did the bear whisper to your ear?” In reply, the friend said, “The bear advised me not to trust a friend who leaves his friend alone in the time of danger.”
একসময় দুই বন্ধু ছিল। তারা একটি নির্দিষ্ট গ্রামে থাকে। তারা একে অপরের সাথে খুব ঘনিষ্ঠ ছিল। একদিন দুই বন্ধু এক জঙ্গলের মধ্য দিয়ে হাঁটছিল। তারা প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিল যে তারা বিপদের সময়েও একে অপরকে সাহায্য করবে। হঠাৎ তারা দেখতে পেল একটা ভালুক তাদের দিকে এগিয়ে আসছে।
দুজনেই ভয় পেয়ে গেল। তাদের একজন জানত কিভাবে গাছে উঠতে হয়। শীঘ্রই সে তার বন্ধুর কথা না ভেবে কাছের একটি গাছে উঠে গেল। কিন্তু অন্য বন্ধুটি ছিল মোটা এবং গাছে উঠতে জানত না। কিন্তু তিনি জানতেন যে ভাল্লুক মৃতদেহ খায় না। তাই তিনি মাটিতে লুটিয়ে পড়েন এবং নিঃশ্বাস বন্ধ করে দেন। এবং সে মৃত ব্যক্তির মত ভান করছিল।
ভালুকটি তার কাছে এসে তার মুখ, কান এবং নাক ঘ্রাণ করল এবং তাকে মৃত মানুষ বলে মনে করল। তাই তাকে স্পর্শ না করেই জায়গা ছেড়ে চলে গেল। গাছে থাকা অন্য বন্ধুটি সব দেখল। সে গাছ থেকে নেমে তার বন্ধুর কাছে গেল এবং তাকে সাগ্রহে জিজ্ঞেস করল, “ওহ! প্রিয়, ভাল্লুক তোমার কানে ফিসফিস করে কি বললো?" উত্তরে, বন্ধুটি বলল, "ভাল্লুক আমাকে এমন বন্ধুকে বিশ্বাস না করার পরামর্শ দিয়েছে যে তার বন্ধুকে বিপদের সময় একা ফেলে চলে যায়।
Robert Bruce And Spider
Robert Bruce was the king of Scotland. His army was defeated again and again against the King Edward 1 of England. Being defeated for six times he lost his hope and fied away from his Kingdom and took shelter in a remote cave.
king was always in a gloomy state for his unhappy condition. Once he was thinking of his sad lot lying in the cave. Suddenly he noticed a spider trying hard to reach the the ceiling of the cave. The Spider failed again and again to attain success. But it did not give up hope.
Bruce saw the spider climbing to the ceiling after six unsuccessful attempts. This dauntless spider inspired Robert Bruce to shake off the darkness of despair. He gathered an army of strong men and attacked his enemies. The enemies courted defcat and Robert Bruce regained his Kingdom.
রবার্ট ব্রুস ছিলেন স্কটল্যান্ডের রাজা। ইংল্যান্ডের রাজা এডওয়ার্ড 1 এর বিরুদ্ধে তার সেনাবাহিনী বারবার পরাজিত হয়। ছয়বার পরাজিত হয়ে তিনি তার আশা হারিয়ে ফেলেন এবং তার রাজ্য থেকে দূরে সরে গিয়ে একটি দুর্গম গুহায় আশ্রয় নেন।
রাজা তার অসুখী অবস্থার জন্য সর্বদা বিষণ্ণ অবস্থায় থাকতেন। একবার সে গুহায় শুয়ে তার দুঃখের কথা ভাবছিল। হঠাৎ তিনি লক্ষ্য করলেন একটি মাকড়সা গুহার ছাদে পৌঁছানোর আপ্রাণ চেষ্টা করছে। মাকড়সা সফলতা অর্জনে বারবার ব্যর্থ হয়েছে। তবে আশা ছাড়েননি।
ছয়টি ব্যর্থ প্রচেষ্টার পর মাকড়সাটিকে ছাদে উঠতে দেখেন ব্রুস। এই নির্ভীক মাকড়সা রবার্ট ব্রুসকে হতাশার অন্ধকার ঝেড়ে ফেলতে অনুপ্রাণিত করেছিল। তিনি শক্তিশালী সৈন্যদের একত্রিত করলেন এবং তার শত্রুদের আক্রমণ করলেন। শত্রুরা শৃঙ্খলিত হয় এবং রবার্ট ব্রুস তার রাজ্য পুনরুদ্ধার করে।
